Our Learning

We believe that the children at Peover Superior are at the heart of our curriculum. During a typical day at Peover Superior all our staff ensures the ethos is developed and maintained through:

  • Providing a calm and effective learning environment at all times, in which each child can achieve his or her maximum potential
  • Providing meaningful, purposeful tasks using the National Curriculum programmes of study guidelines and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
  • Providing a welcoming environment, in which courtesy, kindness and mutual respect are fostered, and through valuing and celebrating pupils’ success and achievements
  • Providing positive role models
  • Providing a range of teaching styles that suit every individual and linking learning to the bigger picture
  • Using fun and creativity to engage and enthuse pupils
  • Using cross curricular links wherever possible and putting learning into context
  • Providing a fair and disciplined environment, in line with the school’s Behaviour and SEN Policy
  • Maintaining purposeful and informative planning, that ensures all children are involved in the life of the school
  • Developing links with the wider community

How learning is organised

Curriculum time can be planned as continuous study throughout the term, or as blocks of study. Learning is planned using the Long Term Curriculum Framework. Teachers have developed Schemes of Work for each subject to ensure that programmes of study are effectively covered and cross-curricular learning is maximised.

Teachers encourage pupils to learn within given time scales, and will facilitate the effective use of time through:

  • The provision of appropriate activities and resources
  • Planning challenging activities which can be carried out by individuals or groups of pupils
