Grandparent's Afternoon

 

At Peover, we believe in fostering strong connections within our community while instilling values of sustainability in our children. One such initiative is our Grandparent Afternoons, where we invite grandparents to spend quality time with our children, engaging in activities that promote both bonding and environmental consciousness.

This year, we hosted another successful Grandparent Afternoon, centered around the theme of sustainability. Grandparents were warmly welcomed into our school environment to share in the joy of learning alongside their grandchildren. The afternoon was filled with various activities aimed at nurturing an appreciation for nature and the importance of sustainable practices.

Highlights of the event included:

  1. Sowing Seeds for the Future: Our visitors actively participated in sowing seeds to plant in our newly established bee-friendly garden. This hands-on experience not only connected generations but also instilled the importance of nurturing and caring for our environment.

  2. Creative Nature Crafts: Grandparents and children bonded over creating nature-inspired crafts, using recycled materials wherever possible. These crafts not only sparked creativity but also served as a reminder of the beauty and significance of the natural world.

  3. Pledges for Sustainability: Together, grandparents and children wrote pledges to support sustainability in their daily lives. From reducing waste to conserving energy, these pledges reflected a commitment to making positive changes for the future of our planet.

  4. Exploring Nature Through Literature: In our cosy reading dens, families delved into a selection of beautiful books about nature. Through storytelling and shared reading experiences, we celebrated the wonders of the natural world and the importance of preserving it for generations to come.

The Grandparent Afternoon was not only a memorable occasion for our students and their grandparents but also a testament to our school's dedication to fostering a sense of community and environmental responsibility. By coming together to learn, create, and connect, we are nurturing a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
