New topic - Journeys and Exploration

Welcome back after Easter! This half term our topic will be....

Journeys, Exploration & Superheroes. 

In English, we will be reading the story 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra. We will be retelling the story in our own words, writing warning letters to the Evil Pea, designing our own superhero veggie characters and writing our own superhero stories. Also we will be writing newspaper articles and factfiles about famous explorers. 

In Maths, we will be focusing on multiplication and division and learning to tell the time (Year 1). EYFS children will be learning to measure weight, capacity and length and also to tell the time. 

In Science we will be learning to identify, sort and group materials according to their properties. They will be planning a science experiment to design an umbrella for Peover Bear using suitable materials. 

Finally History lessons will teach us about events beyond living memory and the life of famous explorers. 

I am looking forward to another fabulous half term in Class 1 with lots of learning!
