A wonderful first term
What a great term it has been!
The last few weeks have been extremely busy for Reception. In our Phonics we have begun to start using our knowledge of sounds to blend and segment words, with all children in Reception beginning to take home their own reading books.
In Maths, we have been focusing on two numbers a week diving deeper into each number - discussing a variety of ways we can make these numbers, if we can identify them in a range of ways and also beginning to use different models to show these numbers, such as the part - part - whole model.
Our book we have been focussing on this part of half term has been 'Lost and Found' discussing how we have felt if we ever lost anything, list writing and also beginning to write postcards.
Of course, we have been busy with Christmas preparations too! All of the children were extremely excited to take part in the whole school Carol Concert and to be involved in their very first Nativity production next week too! The children have all worked extremely hard learning all the songs and any lines they have to say.
We are looking forward to our last week in school before Christmas with lots of exciting craft activities, card writing and of course, performing our Nativity!
In Reception we have had a very fun filled, exciting first full term in school! A big well done to all of the children in Reception for settling in excellently and I look forward to the New Year!
