Roll on the Spring Term!

Find out what Class 3 will be doing in the first half of the Spring Term.

Hi Class 3!

I hope you and your families had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a very happy and healthy 2022.  I am incredibly excited about the start of our new term; my last term as 'Miss Woodward'.  My favourite season is also just around the corner!

The 1,000-Year-Old Boy : Welford, Ross: Amazon.co.uk: Books

In English, our new text is 'The 1000-Year Old Boy' by Ross Welford.  It's a fantastic book which I hope will grip our class as much as gripped me!  Our first text type will be writing character descriptions.  We will be working on using ambitious vocabulary as well as figurative language, relative clauses and a variety of sentence types.

In Maths, we will be starting the term by completing our multiplication and division unit before moving onto fractions.  We will have a weekly times table focus to make sure our recall of multiplication facts is automatic.  We will begin with the three times table.  GET READY!

In the Wider Curriculum, we have some fascinating learning ahead!  In History, we will be finding out about the Anglo-Saxon and Viking struggle for the Kingdom of England.  In Geography, we will be learning about the countries, human and physical features and weather and climate of North America.  In Art, we will be learning about aboriginal artwork with a particular focus on printing.  In Science, we are moving onto our 'Light' unit; we will be investigating reflection and refraction.  In P.E, we are going to be gymnasts and dancers.  In R.E, we are going to be finding out about Islam and in PSHE, we will be learning about peer-pressure, media influence and online safety (which we will cover further in Computing).

I can't wait to hear what you've all done over the Christmas holiday and get our new term underway!
