At Peover Superior Primary School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, valued, listened to and respected. Safeguarding is much more than policies and procedures—it is woven through our curriculum, our relationships and our daily school life.
Our children learn how to recognise risks, make safe choices, develop healthy relationships and know where to seek help if they are worried about themselves or someone else.
We want every child to leave Peover feeling confident, resilient and equipped with the knowledge and skills to stay safe both now and in the future.
Our Safeguarding Curriculum
At Peover Superior Primary School, safeguarding is not taught as a single lesson—it is a continuous journey that helps children grow into safe, confident and responsible young people.
From Reception to Year 6, children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise risks, make informed choices, build healthy relationships and know when and how to ask for help. Our safeguarding curriculum is carefully planned to ensure learning is age-appropriate, progressive and relevant to the world children live in today.
Safeguarding is woven throughout everyday school life and is taught through PSHE, Computing, Relationships Education, Science, assemblies, themed awareness weeks, visitors, enrichment opportunities and meaningful classroom discussions. Children are encouraged to ask questions, share their views and develop the confidence to speak up if something doesn't feel right.
Throughout their time at Peover, children learn about:
Personal Safety
Children learn how to keep themselves safe, understand body boundaries, identify trusted adults, recognise safe and unsafe situations, and know how to ask for help when they need it.
Online Safety
Children develop the knowledge and skills to use technology safely and responsibly. They learn about digital footprints, cyberbullying, online relationships, privacy, gaming, social media and the safe use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).
Emotional Health and Wellbeing
Children are supported to understand and manage their emotions, build resilience, develop positive self-esteem and recognise that it is always okay to ask for help with their mental health and wellbeing.
Healthy Relationships
Children learn how to build positive friendships, show kindness and respect, resolve disagreements peacefully, recognise unhealthy behaviours and understand what healthy relationships look like.
Staying Safe
Children explore a range of practical safety topics including road safety, water safety, fire safety, railway safety, sun safety, first aid, personal safety and how to respond in emergencies.
Growing Up in Modern Britain
Children learn about democracy, respect, equality, diversity, children's rights and how to be responsible citizens who value and celebrate differences. Through our child-friendly British Values, children learn to:

Our Safeguarding Ambassadors
Giving Children a Voice in Keeping Peover Safe
At Peover Superior Primary School, we believe that children should play an active role in creating a safe, respectful and caring school community.
Our Safeguarding Ambassadors are pupils who help promote safeguarding messages across school and ensure that children's voices, ideas and concerns are heard. They work alongside staff to help make Peover a place where everyone feels safe, valued and included.
Our Safeguarding Ambassadors:
Promote safety messages
Help children understand important safeguarding themes such as online safety, kindness, respect and looking after one another.
Listen to children's views
Encourage children to share their ideas, worries and suggestions, helping everyone understand that their voice matters.
Support a positive school culture
Model our school values of Care, Achieve, Believe and our behaviour expectations of Ready, Safe, Respectful.
Raise awareness
Support safeguarding events, assemblies, displays and whole-school campaigns including Anti-Bullying Week, Safer Internet Day and Children's Mental Health Week.
Help children feel connected
Welcome new pupils, encourage friendship and help create a school where everyone feels they belong.
