Sycamore Class (Y1/2) Mrs Ellis-Stansfield & Mrs Munro
Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful and fun-filled break, making special memories with your families. We’re so excited to welcome you back for a brand-new term full of exciting learning and new adventures.
This term, we’ll be exploring lots of engaging topics and building on the children’s love of learning. Year 1 and Year 2 will be taught together for Reading, Writing, Maths, and the Wider Curriculum during the afternoons, allowing for plenty of collaboration, creativity, and challenge.
We are delighted to share that Mrs Munro will be teaching Year 2 each morning for Reading, Writing, and Maths, and she will be teaching the whole class all day on Fridays.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic start to the year and can’t wait to see what the children will achieve. Let’s make this term full of curiosity, confidence, and kindness!

Our Autumn1_ 2025 Curriculum Overview
General Reminders:
- P.E is on a Wednesday and Friday, children can come to school wearing their P.E kit on these days. Please ensure that all PE kit is clearly labelled.
- Children in Sycamore Class should have a book bag where they can keep their reading folder and any important letters.
- Reading books will be changed weekly on a Friday. Your child will have a fully decodable phonic book to read as well as a sharing book to read and enjoy with the family.
- Your child will have weekly 'Home Learning' sent home on a Friday. This may be linked to phonics, maths or wider curriculum work based on PurpleMash or EdShed.
- Children need to have a named water bottle, which will stay in school all week.
- Y1/2 children need a waterproof coat and wellies/outdoor shoes for our outdoor play.
